Job Responsibilities:
As a Credit Control Manager, your primary responsibilities will include the following:
1. Developing, implementing, and maintaining effective credit control policies and procedures that align with the company’s objectives and industry best practices.
2. Overseeing the credit control department, ensuring the smooth functioning of daily operations, and setting departmental goals.
3. Monitoring and reporting on departmental performance, including key performance indicators (KPIs), debtor days, and cash collection targets.
4. Assessing the creditworthiness of new and existing customers, reviewing credit applications, and making informed decisions on credit limits and terms.
5. Supervising and mentoring the credit control team, providing guidance, support, and training to help them achieve their individual and departmental objectives.
6. Collaborating with other departments, such as sales and customer service, to ensure effective communication and coordination regarding customer accounts and credit-related matters.
7. Proactively managing customer accounts, identifying potential risks, and implementing strategies to minimize bad debts and improve cash flow.
8. Resolving escalated customer disputes and negotiating payment plans when necessary.
Experience and Qualifications:
• A minimum of 5 years experience in credit control, with at least two years in a managerial or supervisory role.
• A bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related field is preferred.
• Experience in working with accounting software and advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
• A strong understanding of UK credit laws and regulations.
• Professional accreditation, such as CICM (Chartered Institute of Credit Management), is a plus.
